November 23, 2014 - The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a world wide Catholic Lay Organization. The SVDP Society here at our Parish assist people that live within our Parish Boundaries who fall on hard times. They do a home visit to determine if with the assistance from SVDP they can move forward. They help people that hit a bump in the road and are employed or receive enough disability to support their expenses. All of the payments are made directly to the landlord or utility company. No funds are given directly to the client.
SVDP is dependent on you, our parishioners, for our funds. They receive the 2nd collection when there are 5 weekends in the month (4-5 times a year). They also receive donations made to the poor box in the foyer and from the SVDP Envelopes in the back of the church. Some parishioners opt to make donations through Parish Pay. More often than not, they have to reach out to other churches for financial assistance with cases that exceed their funds.
Their fiscal year ended September 30th 2014. Dennis O’Brien, their treasurer, completed their 2014 Annual Report outlining the assistance they provided last year. SVDP Members will be handing out this report after Mass today. Please take the time to read it and see the work the SVDP Society was able to do because of your kind and generous donations.
If you would like to attend a meeting and possibly consider joining their ministry, they meet the 2nd Monday of every month from 7:30-8:30 pm in the Parish Hall. New members are always needed and welcomed!
Finally, please continue to support their ministry. Every donation you make helps make a bigdifference in someone's life. Thank you!
November 9, 2014 - Please join the Youth Group, Religious Ed., and SVDP as we serve the needy families of our parish this holiday by providing them with Thanksgiving Food Baskets. We are collecting non-perishable food items until November 19th. You may bring your food donations to church and leave them in the baskets in the narthex of the church. As always we deeply appreciate your devotion to our ministry and those we serve. Thank you for your generosity.
August 24, 2014 - Once again your generous donations have made an enormous difference in a client's life. SVDP was contacted by a single mother with two children who was in need of assistance with one month's rent and payment of her electric bill. She had been working but due to a lengthy illness lost her job causing her to fall behind financially. We were able to pay her rent as well as her electric bill and she has started a new job. Your generosity has allowed this mother to move forward and provide for her children. Thank-you for all you do to support the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
July 27, 2014 - The Society of St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank St. Catherine's Youth Group for their most generous donation. They donated $717.14 to SVDP which were the proceeds of their Youth Group Car Washes. Thank you to Deacon Dan and all the Youth Group members for their hard work and generous hearts. Their hard earned money will help make a huge difference in our client's lives.
July 6, 2014 - Did you know... that if you use Parish Pay, you can donate to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul every month rather than just four times a year? Just log into your Parish Pay account and change your donation schedule for SVDP from quarterly to monthly. The needy are always with us. Please consider donating monthly.
June 29, 2014 - Have you ever thought about joining our ministry? We are in need of Home Visitors. If this is something that you think might interest you or you would consider it there is a VIRTUS training being held at our church on Sept. 13th from 9-12. Please contact Rosa Garcia at 732-683-2492 or Cathy Flott at 732-577-1417 for more information. Thank you for considering this ministry.
June 1, 2014 - Once again because of your generosity and the help of other local churches we were able to make a dramatic difference in a client's life. We were contacted by a man that was in a homeless situation. We helped provide shelter for him in a local motel along with food and gas cards to help assist him in getting to doctors appointments. We were able to move him into a small trailer and set him up with the necessary utilities which he will be able to maintain on his own income. We also furnished his new home through donations. This was a true second chance at a new life. SVDP would like to thank you for generously supporting our ministry.

He was not at fault and has a rental car for now but in all likelihood will not receive enough money to replace the car he owned. If anyone comes across or is interested in donating a car please let us know. This client is truly a hardship case and he is very grateful for any assistance we have provided him thus far.
